Some truck humor is too good to leave on the truck.
For this project at Bullard Vinyl Co., our Real Trucks Don't Wear Bowties dog decal found a home on a white garage refrigerator. Black vinyl, a mischievous dog, and a little fuel for the Ford-versus-Chevy argument. The fridge never stood a chance.
Even a garage fridge deserves the attention
Billy filmed the installation, including the mistakes and the fixes. That was part of the point: show the work honestly. Things do not always go exactly to plan, and getting the details right means taking time to correct them.
It may be a garage refrigerator instead of a customer's vehicle, but we still care how the finished decal looks. The photo shows our own completed installation, with the black design standing out against the white door.
Why you can still see the fridge
This is cut vinyl. The letters, dog, and emblem are the vinyl; the white showing around and through the artwork is the refrigerator itself. There is no printed white rectangle behind the design.
After the cutter does its part, the extra vinyl has to be removed by hand. That is called weeding. Transfer tape helps move the remaining pieces together so the design keeps its layout during application. The cut is one step. The hand work and placement matter, too.
Planning a spot for your own decal
A truck window, a toolbox, or a smooth garage fridge can give a design a very different look. Before choosing a size, measure the clear space in both directions: width and height. Leave room around handles, trim, and anything that interrupts the surface.
Then think about contrast. Black shows up strongly on this white door; the right choice for your project depends on the background it will sit against. Our Color & Size Guide can help you compare the options.
